Dear Member of Parliament,
Every day, professional firefighters are exposed to toxic chemicals, which means they have a much higher risk of developing cancer.
Right now, presumptive legislation protects Victorian firefighters from 15 cancers, but firefighters working for the Commonwealth Government are protected from 20.
Currently, a bill is before the Victorian Parliament to increase the number of cancers included in presumptive legislation, bringing Victoria in line with laws in the Commonwealth and Tasmania.
We urge you to support this bill to ensure our firefighters are treated fairly and receive the same cancer protection as other firefighters across Australia.
Yours sincerely,
